Sometimes the simplest thing makes the best Grazr

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

As proven by littlebuddha, who had the audacity to make a reading list based simply on bookmarks with categories like “movies to watch,” “customization,” and “start pages,” among others. Making a Grazr widget of your bookmarks means that they are completely portable and won’t get lost if your hard drive crashes. If you carried the widget around in your Firefox browser, you could add new bookmarks on the fly just by dragging the links into the Grazr.

Surfing or Grazing? You can do both!

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Niceness is all about the old-fashioned kind of surfing done with ocean waves. Niceness author “E” reports on wave niceness and makes videos set to music. E also sports a Grazr widget that displays his latest custom playlists at Rhapsody music service. An idea full of niceness, we must say.

Marshall Kirkpatrick has a great business model for feeds

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Marshall just wrote an interesting post on his blog about using Grazr to help a client make better use of feeds on their site. This fits exactly into the business model we are adopting for Grazr 2.0. Now that the new site is out, I’ve been doing demos and sales calls for different types of clients who also need to get more out of feeds than just posting a little orange icon on their pages. I’m seeing a lot of interest in this, and so we have decided to offer white label versions of our site on a leased basis. What this means is that we set up a private version of the entire Grazr.com site for clients and let them control who uses it. We also modify the site’s appearance to match the client’s own branding. This sales approach will require the assistance of consultants like Marshall, so I’m thrilled to see that he is doing this type of work.

The beta version is now open

Friday, September 28th, 2007

We cleaned up the last of the known bugs today, and removed the passwords from the beta site for 2.0. This new build is now compatible with Firefox, Safari, and IE6/IE7. If the comments are good this weekend, we expect to move this to the main http://grazr.com site next week. If you get a chance to try it, and find any bugs or have any questions, please email them to me at adam AT grazr DOT com.

Amazing GrazrScript app for Flickr

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Edward Grech (Alto Maltés) has produced a GrazrScript application that lets you browse Flickr photos based on tags. The platform is finally coming together. He wrote the Flickr API logic and OPML generation in GrazrScript, and calls an XSLT script on his server to transform the result into feeds. By delivering the feeds through our widget he automatically has an application that works on the iPhone, Ajax desktops, and Facebook. You can learn more about GrazrScript programming in our tutorial.
